Information Security Officer
Blykalla is scaling quickly in order to industrialize our small modular reactor (SMR) concept. If you are passionate about nuclear technology and want to make a significant impact, join us!
Blykalla is building advanced nuclear technology, and that requires information and cyber security that works in practice. We are now looking for an Information Security Officer who will play a key role in shaping how information security is structured, implemented, and continuously improved across the organisation.
The role sits with the COO in the Operational Excellence team and focuses on cyber security, the digital workspace, collaboration tools, cloud environments, and product-related information flows. The task is to help ensure that information security enables efficient work while meeting export control, regulatory, and national security requirements, in close collaboration with legal, IT, engineering, and management.
What we do at Blykalla
Blykalla is developing the next generation of nuclear technology with our Small Modular Reactor (SMR) based on innovative fuel, materials, and reactor designs. As Sweden’s only SMR developer, we are on a mission to decarbonize industries and enable safe, scalable, and sustainable energy solutions. Our technology uses uranium nitride fuel and lead coolant, creating novel challenges and opportunities for the fuel cycle and supporting systems.
What you’ll get to do
Set and improve information and cyber security in daily operations
Play a key role in further developing how information security is implemented across our digital workspace and product-related information, with a practical focus on cyber security.
Stay closely connected to systems and workflows to understand practical constraints and risks, while working together with IT and engineering teams to implement appropriate solutions.
Maintain and further develop the organisation’s information security and privacy framework so that it reflects operational reality and fulfils regulatory requirements and business needs.
Translate regulatory and export control requirements into workable security
Work together with legal and management to translate export control, data protection, and other regulatory requirements into clear, actionable security practices and technical guardrails for everyday work.
Support compliance with applicable Swedish and EU regulations, including the Network and Information Security Directive (NIS2), through practical and proportionate measures.
Contribute to preparations for external audits, regulatory reviews, and assurance activities related to information security standards.
Support security risk, incidents, and resilience
Maintain and continuously improve the organisation’s overview of information security risk, helping define acceptable risk levels, mitigation needs, and escalation paths.
Drive preparedness for and response to information security incidents, including coordination, regulatory interaction where required, and follow-up actions.
Drive continuous improvements in security posture and resilience based on incidents, assessments, and changes in the threat landscape.
Coordinate security across teams, products, and external providers
Act as a central coordination point for information security across engineering, operations, legal, IT, and management.
Contribute to setting direction for security aspects related to products, platforms, and supporting infrastructure, including PLM, secure development practices, vulnerability handling, and information security across the product lifecycle.
Work together with external digital and cloud service providers on security requirements and follow-up, ensuring external dependencies remain controlled and fit for purpose.
Who you are
This role suits someone who combines sound judgement with experience in cyber and information security. You bring a pragmatic approach to security, while keeping solutions practical and workable. You understand the need to balance security, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency in a growing organisation. As Blykalla continues to develop, the scope and depth of the role will evolve over time.
Qualifications
We believe you bring experience in several of the following areas:
Practical experience working with information and cyber security, ideally in regulated or security-sensitive environments.
A technical background in IT, cloud infrastructure, or secure system
Experience implementing security controls and ways of working, not only defining policies and frameworks.
Familiarity with regulatory and assurance-driven environments, such as export control, data protection, or critical infrastructure regulation.
Experience collaborating with engineering teams, IT, legal functions, and external service providers.
Fluency in English; Swedish is an advantage.
Eligibility to work with sensitive and controlled information in Sweden.
Location
This position is for our office in Stockholm.
So, what do you think?
Become part of a team that’s transforming nuclear energy and building a sustainable future. Together, we’ll deliver safe, clean, and reliable power to the world.
We are proud to foster an inclusive workplace free from discrimination. We strongly believe that diversity of experience, perspectives, and background will lead to a better environment for our employees and a better product. This is something we value deeply and we encourage everyone to be a part of changing the way the world thinks about power supply!

About Blykalla
Blykalla is Sweden's only SMR vendor, commercializing lead-cooled fast reactors for industrial use. Based on 20+ years of research, their SEALER technology is a compact 55 MWe unit designed to offer a safe, efficient, and scalable power solution. With a strong foundation within Sweden, Blykalla is well positioned to deliver Europe's first advanced SMR, providing reliable and sustainable baseload energy to power AI and clean industries.
Backed by partners such as Uniper, ABB, KSB, Höganäs, and the Royal Institute of Technology, Blykalla has secured close to EUR 50 million in funding, including a SEK 99 million grant from the Swedish Energy Agency and a EUR 17 million investment from the EU. The company plans to complete its first SEALER reactor by 2030 and begin serial production in the 2030s. By 2050, their technology could generate up to 500 TWh of clean electricity annually, cutting global CO₂ emissions by 0.5 gigatons each year.
