Press and Media Manager
Blykalla is scaling quickly in order to industrialize our small modular reactor (SMR) concept. If you are passionate about nuclear technology and want to make a significant impact, join us!
What we do at Blykalla
Blykalla is a Swedish deep-tech company at the forefront of the nuclear industry, pioneering the development of small modular reactors that provide clean, safe, and reliable energy. Thanks to lead-cooling, we achieve high safety in a very compact format, allowing for a simple and cost-effective design that can be mass-produced. Our unique reactor design will provide safe and green baseload energy that perfectly complements solar and wind power.
In this role, you will define how Blykalla shows up in the public domain; from Tier 1 international media and investors to local communities and key stakeholders. You will bridge deep-tech nuclear engineering with commercial, geopolitical, and societal relevance, positioning Blykalla as a credible and leading voice in the global energy transition.
What you’ll get to do
This is a high-impact role for someone who understands how reputation, media presence, and narrative directly support commercial growth, market entry, and long-term trust. You will shape stories that resonate simultaneously with U.S. media, European audiences, policymakers, and the global investment community, without ever compromising technical integrity.
Key Responsibilities
Media Ownership
Media POC: You are the point of contact for all media inquiries. You respond to inbound requests, set up interviews and preparations, follow up news cycles, write articles, pitch stories, and build our media presence in Sweden and abroad. You own the entire lifecycle of media inquiries—from vetting the inbound to managing the post-interview narrative.
Media relationships: Leverage and build extensive networks across global news outlets and media houses to increase Blykalla’s exposure.
Stakeholder updates: Lead the authorship of newsletters and continuous updates for our investor base, partners, and the general public.
Proactive pitching: Understand and utilize news cycles to Blykalla’s benefit, to build newsworthy stories for Tier 1 and industry-specific media in Sweden as well as abroad. Tell our narrative in the context of the global race for AI, reshaping energy markets, and geopolitical dimensions that shape the industry.
Narrative & Content
Strategic authorship: You have authorship of press releases, op-eds, and white papers that turn complex nuclear engineering into compelling stories without losing scientific integrity.
Site development: You work closely with the Business Development and Marketing teams to manage local sentiment and public trust as we establish new reactor sites in Sweden and abroad.
Investor relations: Align media efforts with the funding lifecycle. You understand how media coverage reinforces Blykalla’s valuation and market readiness.
Company information: Responsible for collecting internal data and setting up structures to ensure company information and "fast facts" are always up to date.
Strategic Calm & Training
Crisis readiness: You have a "strategic shield" mentality—neutralizing misinformation and managing high-pressure news cycles with calm and precision.
Media coaching: Prepare the management team for the nuances of both Swedish consensus-based reporting and the high-intensity US media landscape.
Cross-functional alignment: Coordinate with the VP Public Affairs to ensure media narratives support regulatory goals, and with the Head of Marketing to ensure all materials align with PR messaging.
Risk Mitigation
Engineering vs. media alignment: Act as the filter between technical development and public disclosure. You must ensure that "engineering truth" is never sacrificed for a media hook, protecting the company from accusations of over-promising.
Crisis & organized opposition: Proactively maintain a state of readiness to neutralize misinformation regarding nuclear safety, waste, or lead-cooled technology with evidence-based communication.
Financial & legal compliance: You act as a guardian of market-sensitive information. You must ensure all media outreach complies with financial regulations (especially during funding rounds) and protects the company’s IP.
Information integrity: Establish internal structures to verify facts before they reach the public, ensuring that Blykalla remains the most trusted voice in the SMR ecosystem.
